Joint controllership
Joint controllers (Article 26 GDPR)
In the context of conducting the study, ISTAT – Institut für angewandte Statistik GmbH (hereinafter ISTAT) and the university that invited you to participate in the survey are joint controllers in accordance with Art. 26 GDPR.
Description of procedure
Your university wrote to you and invited you to participate in the survey. Only your university knows your name and address data. When you click on the link in the invitation, you will be forwarded to an ISTAT web page. There, you can participate voluntarily in the survey and answer the presented questions. Your responses will then be saved on the ISTAT servers. ISTAT can access these answers but not information concerning your name or address (only the university has these).
Your university
Should you have any questions about the invitation sent by your university or in regard to the further processing of survey data within the university, please get in touch with the contact partner at the university specified in the communication from it.

- You have filled in a survey and want to see the information you provided after completing the survey.
- You have voluntarily agreed to do another survey and want to update your address data or revoke your agreement.

If the survey is no longer available online, you can have the following processing undertaken by telling us your access code:
- correction/amendment to your information
- (partial) deletion of your information
In this case, please send us an email with the relevant information to: datenschutz@istat.de.

Since the projects at the Institute of Applied Statistics usually involve quantitative surveys, no evaluation on an individual level is provided for and, accordingly, there is no technical infrastructure available to provide presentation of individual cases once the survey has been completed and the questionnaire can no longer be accessed. However, you are welcome to get in touch with us, We’ll find a solution together.
In this case, please send us an email with the relevant information to: datenschutz@istat.de.
You have voluntarily agreed to do another survey and want to update your address data or revoke your agreement.
You have given us an email address at which we can contact you. Please indicate this to us so that we can process your enquiry.
If you want to update your address data, you can send us the relevant information and we’ll update the data for you.
If you want to revoke your consent for further contact, you can communicate this in a short statement of intent. We will then directly delete the relevant addresses, which are generally stored in encrypted form, physically separate from survey data.
In this case, please send us an email with the relevant information to: datenschutz@istat.de.
You want to exercise your right to lodge a complaint pursuant to Article 77 GDPR.
Please direct your complaint to our external data protection officer at TÜV Hessen (Cyber & Information Security Department). The data protection officer is not subject to our instruction and can conduct checks in the Institute at any time without notice.
