Project Study Programmes and Professions in North Rhine-Westphalia (StuBNRW) draws on data collected during the KOAB graduate survey. As part of the project, analyses will be carried out on a broad empirical basis on the topics of study conditions and academic success as well as on the career success of university graduates.
For example, the data of 130,434 university graduates was available for the analyses in 2019.
The analyses are comparative, for example by region, period or study structure. This creates an information base for planning projects of the State University Development and a basis for responding to enquiries from politics, the press and the public.
The Study Programmes and Professions in North Rhine-Westphalia project comprises the following eleven meta-questions:
- How heterogeneous are first-year students in their university entrance biographies and does this have an impact on their course of study and study success?
- What factors influence the duration of professional studies and academic success? What is the impact of the educational background of parents, the financing of study programmes and international mobility?
- What reasons lead to an extension of the duration of studies?
- How is the transition between Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes (one after the other, with breaks, with change of university etc.)?
- What are the courses of study of students who change universities and fields of study?
- How are the study programmes and conditions assessed by graduates?
- What is the fit between study programmes and the subsequent profession?
- How do graduates handle entry into the job market?
- What do graduates do, what professional tasks do they take up after their study programme?
- How international is the study programme in NRW and how does it influence the career success of graduates?
- What is the relationship between study satisfaction, study organisation and adherence to the standard period of study?
